TWO ISLAND MARRIED GYMS - (ALL IS FAIR IN) LOVE & WAR BADGES

Located at Two Island in the Sevii Island chain, the Two Island Married Gyms (shortened to 'Two Island Gym') is a curious structure in that it is functionally two gyms in one; as well as the home of Jolyne and Carly's Photo Gallery (and farm). While on Two Island itself, one can access a path that moves behind Carly's Photo Studio & Ice Cream Stand- this path in turn leads to a bridge spanning between Two Island, and its small, formerly uninhabited islet. It is the middle of this bridge, which acts as the Gym- massive, and literally half submerged in water, the entire place is set up to change according to certain days of the week.
No matter the day however, customer enjoyment is not lost. The upper floor, protected and shaded in part by a mesh of glass tunnels within which magikarp can be seen swimming through, alternates between acting as a stage for local market sales, and a series of stands upon which battles can be watched from. Moving below through the stairs located at either point connecting to the bridge takes one to the Art Gallery in the meantime- with walls covered in various photos, occasional seats provided for people to enjoy the pictures there...or of course, the sight of the pokemon out in the sea. Where the tubes above the waterline allow fish pokemon to swim through for a taste of the above, the gallery below is formed of various tubes and walk-ways to allow the opposite for visitors.
The Two Island Gym has two challenges; on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, Carly will be hosting her Gym Challenge; a barrier will erect itself at the far end of the marketplace area, blocking the Gyarados-mouthed stairway that leads to the islet and forcing trainers to enter through the one nearest Two Island. On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, Jolyne will host however, and trainers will be able to simply walk through the stands and across the bridge to the arena on the islet. Both badges, while individual in their own right, can notably be linked together to form a complete shape.
CARLY - THE LOVE BADGE | JOLYNE - THE WAR BADGE
- The Love Badge resembles a betta fish, with fins curling curiously inward akin to one half of a 'yin-yang' style circle. The Betta is printed in simple prismatic blue, showing hues of green and pink given the light and rimmed with metal. When linked with the War Badge, the fins click over parts of the bird. Challengers who obtain this badge will also obtain a cash prize of 10,000P, along with the Shed Shell- an item that allows pokemon to withdraw from battle regardless of trapped conditions and abilities. | - The War Badge resembles a hummingbird, wings and beak turned inward to loosely form part of a 'yin yang' circle. The bird is printed in prismatic green, showing hues of orange and red depending on the light, rimmed with metal. When linked with the Love badge, the beak and wings overlap across the betta. Challengers who obtain this badge will also obtain 10,000P in cash prize, alongside the Expert Belt- an item that empowers supereffective moves.
Challengers for Carly's badge will find themselves facing no Pokemon Challenge. Instead, one of Carly's pokemon will greet the challenger at the base of the entrance, notably carrying a key. This key is the only way through the exit stairway, and therefore the only way to reach Carly for her badge. Challengers must somehow befriend, or convince the pokemon to otherwise part with their key, without battling them; if a battle starts, the pokemon knows to run and hide somewhere else in the gallery maze. Upon reaching Carly, she will be seated simply in a chair under a sun umbrella on the arena platform, likely working on paperwork. The badge will be passed to the Trainer for simply reaching her. | Challengers for Jolyne's badge will experience a unique challenge that cannot- and in fact will not- be defeated by level alone. Challengers for the badge are able to immediately access the arena on the islet- which can arrange itself to include obstacle pillars, or similar furnishings, to further enhance a battle. Jolyne will, according to the levels of the challenging team, either set a time limit that they must remain within the arena for OR simply call for a 'fight to the finish'; which means either knocking her own pokemon from the arena, or causing them to faint. Upon stating the level ranges of the challenging pokemon and receiving this challenge, Jolyne will then bring forward a team of level 100 pokemon, determined according to the challenger. It is, after all, not a battle meant to be won- but rather, withstood. |
For those who wish to challenge either of the Gym Leaders, the hours of the Gym are 11AM to 9PM, and the Gym is entirely closed on Sundays. Challengers should fill in the following form, with results determined given actions the characters will be taking. This form may also be used to request IC threads for the challenges, which will be arranged accordingly.
I hope I’m doing this right???
POKEMON TEAM:
Ori
This Dragonite is not very friendly looking and is downright grumpy. Not at all the big cuddly friend that most of his species tend to be. His expression seems to be a permanent resting bitch face and is definitely an imposing and intimidating dragon as he's much larger than your typical Dragonite, standing at around 11 ft tall.
Burc'ya
This Eevee sems to be pretty typical. Very friendly, cute, and energetic. Yet he is also fiercely loyal and protective of his trainer. To the point that he's kind of clingy. Burc'ya doesn't like to be very far from Bo-Katan at all. Perhaps its because of some sort of trauma?
Ad'ika
A very new member to Bo-Katan's team, Ad'ika is a little more unsure of everything. But boy does she want to fight! That's what these gyms are for right? RIGHT? Though the Pawmo is much like Burc'ya in that she prefers not to go far from her trainer. Maybe there's a little bit of insecurity there? Not the same level of loyalty but she might get there some day.
BADGE: Friday/Love Badge
CHALLENGE:
Bo-Katan doesn’t quite know what to expect. All she knows really is the name of the gym, badges, and that this isn’t going to be like a usual challenge. Even so she walks in with her giant Dragonite as is her custom. The pair likely looking very intimidating as the woman herself is fully covered in painted armor with that dragon that’s easily twice her height. Though there is a cute Pawmo clinging to her shoulder, and an Eevee pops its head out of her bag. All eyes staring at the Pokemon they encounter that’s holding a key.
The Pawmo growls and is ready for a fight! Because that’s what gyms are for right? Though Bo-Katan lifts her hand to stop the fighting type and instead tilts her head curiously at the Pokemon.
Fighting isn’t the challenge here she realizes as this is for the Love badge. Not the War badge. So with that the Mandalorian reaches up and takes off her helmet, revealing the face of the red headed woman. That way she would look less intimidating.
She then starts talking to the pokemon, at first thinking aloud at what she’s supposed to do here. Admitting that she’s not very good when it comes to things like love. Fighting and war is really her thing.
This makes her Pokémon look at her in astonishment. How can she say that! Burc’ya the Eevee protests! Though she can’t understand what he’s saying, the Pokemon with the key sure can. Burc’ya insists that’s not true because he knows she loves all her Pokemon! Bo-Katan put him before herself when she fell and used her body to protect him! He will never forget that he loves her so much because of it!
Ad’ika the Pawmo chimes in too because they came together when she had an unfortunate meeting with the tire of Bo-Katan’s bike. Even though she hurt her, she could have just kept going and not cared. But she did care! She stopped and helped her get better! Now they get to travel together and she’s already learned so much!
Ori the Dragonite grumbles and shifts uncomfortably as it seems he’s expected to say something too. The Eevee and Pawmo both looking at him. The dragon huffs indignantly and grumbles before reluctantly adding his piece. He didn’t like Bo-Katan when she first caught him, or any humans. Because he thought they didn’t really care, like his first trainer that abandoned him. But she never gave up on him, even when he treated her badly and was difficult. Now he knows she isn’t like his first trainer and because of that she has his loyalty. And… and you should give her that key! Because she deserves it!
It’s actually kind of a shame she can’t understand them because she would be deeply moved. But even as she stands there and observes all of this Bo-Katan at least gets the feeling they’re talking about her and in a good way.
BADGE APPROVED
Which, the minute Ad'ika the Pawmo starts growling is exactly what poor Horse does. Oh dear!
It does make it easy for Bo-Katan to approach them though, on account of now being unable to move. (fortunately for the challenge, they landed on the key.) Horse considers Bo-Katan's words very carefully. They're a good 'dog', and want to do their job properly! And also, they can't do anything except sit there and listen- which is also good for the team, because it gives them time to voice their ptotests!
Ori's words strike a little close to home though, because Horse being a non-combat Sylvally, that means they were also a Shelter Null; a null that was designed and bought and then given up because their trainer simply wasn't ready for that kind of pokemon. It's a very teary moment as the frankly massive- Sylvally are nearly 7 foot tall after all- 'dog' has a good cry.
....They still can't move, but once any of them have helped get the feeling back into poor Horse's legs, they'll pass the key over with their beak. Something has happened here Bo-Katan. It was probably good though.
Once Bo-Katan gets to where Carly is, she'll take notice. Are you guys okay??? Do you need an ice cream or something??
In any case, she presents Bo-Katan with the Love Badge, while informing her of the next day that Joylne will be in before passing over a voucher for some ice cream. Enjoy your vacation!
I hope I’m doing this right too lol
POKEMON TEAM:
Ori
Bo-Katan’s strongest Pokemon, Ori is not a cuddly Dragonite but is rather fierce and intimidating looking due to his massive size. Standing at 11 ft tall he’s a determined dragon who is proud of his power and will not back down from a fight. He’s also very loyal to his trainer.
Laraan
While a typical looking Lapras, Laaran is a well bred specimen that has wide variety of moves that Bo puts to good use. A very reliable, versatile and sturdy Pokemon. Easily one of Bo-Katan’s go to Pokemon as she’s good in many situations. Being the bold creature she is, Laaran also never backs down from a fight.
Paz
Much like Ori, Paz is a brute and is one of Bo-Katan’s most loyal and hard hitting Pokemon. Being a former Rocket Pokemon, though Bo doesn’t know it as she thought he was just a Vermillion gang Squirtle, he’s not afraid to do what it takes to win. Even if it means using some dirty tactics. Though Bo has raised him to be better than that and listens to her instead.
Bes’uliik
Calm and collected, this Metagross is one of Bo’s most reliable battlers. Sturdy and powerful, it is one of her favorite steel types. And she has a lot of them. It is very calculating and shares his trainer’s affinity for strategy, making them quite formidable together in battle as they’re very like minded.
Eparavur
A very typical Snorlax. She’s slow, lazy, and likes to eat. A lot. But with Bo-Katan’s training she has managed to become more disciplined and a formidable battler. With Bo using her traits to her advantage. She’s just as powerful as she is sturdy, making her a well rounded warrior.
Kal
An armored warrior just like his “mom”, Kal the Bisharp is the other favored steel type. Having been bullied by fighting types as a Pawniard in Saffron, Bo rescued the little guy who was proven to be very sturdy. As he grew though he’s proven to be quite the fighter as well and also one of Bo-Katan’s most loyal Pokemon.
BADGE: War Badge/Monday
CHALLENGE:
Like with the Love Badge, Bo-Katan has no idea what she’s in for. Only that it has to do with war, and so she chooses some of her best and most reliable Pokemon for this. Considering she’s the leader of a culture deeply steeped in war, she’s very much war-minded and goes into this as such. Confident that the Pokemon she chose would be ones she would want with her in battle.
Ori the Dragonite follows her in. The imposing Pokemon that’s twice her height looking ready for a challenge. Letting Jolyne know that her Pokemon are between levels 80 and 100, Bo-Katan prepares herself for the fight. It quickly becomes evident to Bo that this is a test of endurance and she adjusts her strategy to fit that.
Ori is the first to go. Having his use safeguard to protect him from status altering moves while also throwing a thunder wave at his opponent. Then dragon dance to increase his attack and speed. She avoids any attacks that, while powerful, would work against him. Favoring moves like Hurricane, Surf, Fly, and Extremespeed to pack a punch but also keep him lasting longer. Once his strength starts dwindling though she will have him use Roost to replenish some of it.
Once Ori can’t go on any longer he’s replaced with Paz the Blastoise. The burly turtle eager to fight. Bo-Katan starts off with having him use Iron Defense followed by Rain Dance to give him an edge. He’s also holding a mystic water to further boost his was attacks. Once that’s done there’s an onslaught of water moves such as Surf and Hydro Pump. Though again she avoids any of his moves that would damage the Pokemon itself despite being powerful. Though if it’s evident that one of Jolyne’s Pokemon is about to use a very strong attack she will have Paz use Protect to guard against it.
When Paz is finished he’s replaced by Bo-Katan’s Lapras, Laraan. Once Paz’s Rain Dance expires she will renew it again but also use Confuse Ray on her opponent. Much like with the Blastoise Bo will have her use Surf and Hydro Pump, but also Thunder unless up against a ground type of course. The types of attacks will depend on what she’s up against but could include Psychic, Bulldoze, Freeze-Dry or Ice Beam. When Laraan’s HP starts to dwindle though Bo will have her use Sing to try to put the opponent to sleep then Life Dew to replenish her strength.
Next up after Laraan comes Bo-Katan’s Metagross, Bes’uliik. She starts off with having it use Magnet Rise, followed by Iron Defense and Scary Face. Like with her other Pokemon too she forgoes the powerful attacks that have downsides to give it the best chance at lasting longer. Favoring attacks such as Earthquake, Psychic, Meteor Mash, and Hammer Arm depending on the opponent.
When the Metagross is done, the next one up is Eparavur the Snorlax. She largely stays in place and is very heavy and moves slowly. Bo-Katan starts by having her use Yawn to make her opponent drowsy and eventually fall asleep. Thats then followed by Belly Drum to sharply raise her attack. What follows is admittedly one of Bo’s favorite strategies. Commanding her to use Fling, it’s revealed that the Snorlax was holding an Iron Ball, which she then chucks at Jolyne’s pokemon for high damage. After that, depending on the opponent, Bo will favor moves like Crunch, High Horsepower, Body Slam, Heavy Slam, Hammer Arm, and Surf. However, once her strength starts getting low Bo will have her use Rest to restore her it. This will cause the Snorlax to then use moves like Snore and Sleep Talk while snoozing.
Last but not least, Bo-Katan’s final Pokemon will be Kal the Bisharp. Fast and furious, he will be going in with Retaliate first to avenge his teammate’s defeat! This is followed by Iron Defense and Swords Dance to increase his stats. Depending on the opponent Bo will use an arsenal of attacks ranging from Night Slash, to Iron Head, to Slash. She will have him use Torment if his opponent is proven to have a highly effective attack against him too. Though Bo-Katan might also have him use Fury Cutter repeatedly for increasing strength each turn depending on the circumstances.
