It is all rather frustrating, no? The inconsistency in the quality of the technology here is far more maddening than if it were consistently awful, at least then we would know what to expect at any given moment.
If I may, what did the deed? You look far too young for such to be of any sort of timely demise. Always such a pity when one dies far before their time...
But I too wonder the logic behind those of whom have been brought here. There does not quite seem to be any pattern that I can work out. For example, myself and one other of my world arrived at the same time, yet we had not been acquainted ere our arrival here. The only connection, tenuous as it is to name it thus, is through a common hero we both know. Perhaps I should put forth an inquiry about the matter with the transplants at large, see if I can discern if there is something to this mystery we have yet to see.
It at least numbs out over time...but like you said, sometimes stuff like this catches you off...
